23 Maoists killed in joint operation by AP, Odisha Police

More than 23 Maoists on early October 24 were shot to death in an encounter by the Greyhounds of Andhra Pradesh and Odisha Police in Malkangiri forest area on Andhra-Odisha border, as per police.

Two Greyhounds constables were injured in the encounter that took place during a routine operation being jointly carried out by AP and Odisha Police at Ramgurha in Malkangiri district of Odisha.

The injured were shifted for treatment to Visakhapatnam by chopper. The encounter took place under the jurisdiction of Chitrakonda police of Malkangiri. The operation was carried out in cut-off areas of Chitrakonda close to the AP border. Some weapons were also seized, as per the police.

The operation (blueprint) was finalised two days ago. There was a tip-off about Naxal movement. Immediately, the AP police was informed for its assistance.
