It’s all over ! India have won by 130 runs. It was their first ever win over South Africa in World Cups after three previous losses. No one would have predicted this at the start, and not even after they got 307. But they bowled with discipline with the new ball, the spinners chipped in, and the fielding was excellent.  After Mahendra Singh Dhoni won the toss and batted, Shikhar Dhawan, Virat Kohli and Ajinkya Rahane batted brilliantly to give India fighting total of 307 after Rohit Sharma fell early . And the bowling came good yet again. Ravichandran Ashwin 3/ 41 off 10,  Mohammed Shami 2/ 30 off 8, Mohit Sharma 2/31 off 7 overs.

Shikhar Dhawan who had come under intense pressure for his failures has bounced back to form in the World Cup. After hitting 74 against Pakistan he scored brilliant 137 against South Africa and rightly bagged the Man of the Match. Dhwan was ably supported by Virat Kohli ( 46 and an aggressive 79 by Ajinkya Rahane.

India’s World Cup retaining hopes which were in tatters at the beginning is dramatically beginning to get the momentum at the right time.
