In a gruesome incident in Adilabad district of Telangana, a 21-year-old boy murdered an 18-year-old girl on July 2 after receiving a rejection for his marriage proposal in front of his house in broad daylight.

According to reports, the accused Mahesh, a college student, was in love with his 18-year-old neighbor Sandhya, whose parents were against this marriage and had arranged her marriage somewhere else.

Mahesh attacked her outside her house in Bhainsa town and repeatedly slit her throat with a knife in full public view. The victim bled to death.

Ande Ramulu, DSP, Bhainsa, said, “Before they could stop him, he ran away. Sandhya died on the spot”.

The accused was putting pressure on Sandhya to marry her but was handed over rejection every time.

Another shocking revelation stated that the victim had lodged a police complaint against Mahesh for harassing her but police had settled the things between the two and no action was taken against Mahesh.

A case of murder has been registered against Mahesh, who was later arrested.
