The show of romance was not only limited to the silver screen, Ram-Leela Star Ranveer Singh went down on his knees and presented a heart shaped cushion to his alleged girlfriend Deepika Padukone. Ranveer Singh was hosting the 16th IIFA awards along with ‘Gunday’ co-star Arjun Kapoor.
In front of thousands spectator, the duo host started their act with an apology for for their stint on the expletive-laden AIB Roast, which had resulted in FIRs against both the actors. “We did something which offended many people. The gig involved us and a very famous director (Karan Johar). Many people said many things about it and FIR was also lodged against us. Politicians were angry,” the duo said, adding, “We are very sorry about Gunday.”
The duo sang to Amir Khan, “Hume maaf karna, O Aamir Khan. Hum kabhi nhi lenge Reema Lagoo and Farida Jalal ka naam.” Arjun Kapoor also took a jibe at the Roy film, which stars Arjun Rampal and Jacqueline Fernandez with Ranbir Kapoor in guest appearance, saying, “The film should be called ‘Destroy’ and not Roy.”
Including the best actress award for Kangana Ranaut, Vikas Bahl’s coming-of-age story Queen, fetched major trophies in the three-day long 16th edition of the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) Weekend and Awards in Kuala Lampur.
Shahid Kapoor bagged the award for Best Performance in the Leading Role – Male, for his performance in Haider, an adaptation of Shakespeare’s Hamlet.
