Eleven RSS workers were sentenced to double life imprisonment in regard to Democratic Youth Federation of India activist V Vishnu’s murder case by the Thiruvananthapuram Additional District and Sessions Court.
While this was so, one person has been awarded a sentence of three years imprisonment by the court on December 16 and fined Rs 51,000 to each of the culprits.
The accused were as following: Santhosh, Manoj alias Kakkot Manoj and Biju Kumar from Keraladithyapuram; Renjith Kumar of Manacaud; Balu Mahendra of Malapparokonam; Vibin and Satheesh Kumar from Anayara, Bose from Pettah, Sathish from Vattiyoorkavu, Vinod Kumar from Nalanchira and Subhash from Sreekaryam.
The court sentenced Sivalal of Karikkakam for a life term, while another culprit Harilal of Keraladityapuram was sentenced to three years imprisonment for helping the accused to go into hiding.
The court acquitted Arun Kumar alias Shaiju, Azam Ani, is still absconding and Renjith of Uliyazhthara died during the trial, while Azam Ani, the 14th accused is still absconding.
Suspecting Vishnu of carrying out attacks on RSS activists since 2001 and murdering RSS worker Thirumala Hari, the accused corned and killed Vishnu, said the prosecution. The accused killed Vishnu opposite the Passport office in Kaithamukku in 2008.
As many as 77 witnesses were examined and produced 162 exhibits and 65 material objects produced during the trial.
