About Parliament That Baffle

1.THE UNMANAGEABILITY
A House shut down doesn’t work. Yet, the MPs persist with high decibel chaos.

2.THE INCOMPETENCE
Half the MPs take a term to figure things out. There are many who’ve gone by without doing anything of note.

3. THE GENERAL BUDGET
Important policies come outside the Budget, but we fuss over an accounting exercise that costs big.

4. THE RAIL BUDGET
A relic that costs a whopping amount, it is basically an announcement of fares and frequency of trains.

5. THE FITNESS
Some MPs are so ill that they can barely walk. Yet, they are paid and pampered at tax payer’s expense.

6 THE MONITORS
The Speaker and the Rajya Sabha Chairman spend much time cajoling and rebuking. Barely anyone bothers.

7. THE SILENCE
Sonia Gandhi and Rahul rarely speak, leaving it to the hecklers and loudmouths. What’s the point?

8. THE QUESTION HOUR
Much is asked. Nothing is revealed. Even the RTI Act is a better tool at extracting information.

9.THE ZERO HOUR
Meant for MPs to raise short-notice issues, it comes at noon and results in exactly zero day after day.

10 THE FOOD
The MPs canteen serves a three-course meal for Rs 20. The food is awful, but the real scandal is the price.
