1 jawan martyred, 2 militants killed in ‘fidayeen’ attack on Srinagar BSF Camp

One soldier was killed and three others injured when suicide attackers carrying a huge amount of explosives entered 182nd battalion camp of Border Security Force (BSF) camp near the Srinagar International airport on October 3.

According to reports, two unidentified militants were also killed in retaliatory firing.

According to the police, the militants broke into 182 battalion headquarters of BSF located in Gogoland at around 4:30 am, following which there was heavy exchange of gunfire

The terrorists who were in military fatigues violated four layers of security at the camp, to which Indian soldiers retaliated and shot down one of the attackers.

“A group of 2-3 militants carried out an attack at the BSF camp of the 182 battalion BSF headquarters near Srinagar airport of Hamaama district, Budgam. In this incident, three jawans have been injured and one fidayeen killed in retaliatory firing. Encounter is in progress,” the Union home ministry said in a statement.

Due to the ongoing operation, Srinagar Airport has been shut down and all routes to the Srinagar airport have been sealed.

Just a day before the BSF has sent out a warning advisory to all its workforce including on leave or off-duty personnel stationed in Jammu and Kashmir about surprise attacks on unarmed soldiers.
